"Canku Sica" Signed Limited Edition Print

"Help Protect Sacrd Sites" T-ShirtThis unique oil painting "Canku Sica" was done by Minnesota artist Parker McDonald. Canku Sica means "Bad Road".
The painting depicts the effort to protect sites sacred to the Dakota people and other Native Americans.
The portrait is of Chief Little Crow, Taoyate Dute (His Red Nation), who was one of the leaders of the Dakota Uprising of 1862. Right below Chief Little Crow are Coldwater Spring, which was not only part of the birthplace of the Dakota Nation, but also the birthplace of Minnesota, and Minnehaha Falls. The four oak leaves represent the Four Sacred Oak Trees that were lost to build a road. The medicine wheel in the center represents the four directions and also the four colors of man who came together to try to stop the road. The figures on the bottom represent the occupation encampment that lasted from August 10, 1998 to December 11, 1999, when the Four Sacred Oak Trees were cut down. There will be 550 signed and numbered prints made from this painting to be sold for $50.00 each.
